SCOTTISH
1990 MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION 2006

![]()
I started boxing with my brother, Harry, in January 2003. I originally just intended to build my upper body strength for my football, but the bug got me! I have moved to a new club in Paisley run by Colin Bellshaw called Renfrewshire ABC.
I am now an Open Class boxer.

SCOTTISH 1990 MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION 2006
SCOTTISH 1990 NOVICE MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION 2005
Reports of my fights:-
Madison Show Thursday 25th May 06
Danny 'The Panther' Barrett fought an exhibition against Mike Lumsden of Madison, entering the blue corner to the theme tune from the Pink Panther! The age and weight difference between these two lads made a bout unacceptable, a good exhibition all the same. Mike showed his variety of shots in the first round as he pressed Danny, the second saw the lads compete equally, whilst in the third it seemed that Danny was on the front foot. I'm sure both boxers learned something from each other.
Scottish Youth Championships Sunday 26th March 06
Danny's semi final opponent, J Stewart from Aberdeen AAC did not show up on the Sunday, so he had a walkover into the final where he met his old adversary, Chris McBain. We had to wait until the last bout of the Championships to see this final get underway, a long day to top off a really long weekend. Bellahouston were present from the start of the championships until the very end before they had chance to see one of their boxers in action! Chris McBain showed an incredible amount of courage and boxed well, but was unable to stop Danny winning by an RSC2 when he was outscored by the 15 point rule. So Bellahouston's only competitive boxer, Danny Barrett won the Scottish 1990 Middleweight Title - WELL DONE DANNY.
At the Bellahouston Show at the Normandy Hotel, Danny topped the bill and really was very good. His opponent, Martin Burke (Wellmeadow ABC) received a standing count in the first round and then the fight was stopped in the second after an explosive straight right to the body, followed by a left hook to the head that left Burke reeling.

Danny Barrett In Devastating Form As He Steals The Limelight From His Classy Stablemates
Bellahouston middleweight Danny Barrett looked unstoppable as he powered toward his second victory in a week last night at the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew.
Although quite a bit younger than his opponent, Martin Burke of Wellmeadow, he was too strong, too fast and too furious for his outclassed opponent on this occasion. The middleweight division is going to be an interesting place to be over the next couple of years as we have some absolute crackers in the ranks and if Barrett keeps up this pace he will be in the running come the day of the races.
Saturday 26th November 05
At the final Bellahouston show to be held at the Dean Park Hotel, Danny fought an exhibition against his fellow club mate, Gav Montgomery. These two spar most weeks and it was good to watch the clash of styles with Gav wanting to work in close, whilst Danny was happy to keep him at bay with his jab.
Saturday 29th October 05
At the Jim Watt Andy Grant Memorial Tournament at Gilmerton, Danny had his first competitive fight since February against Sean McGuire, O'Neils in the 1990, 75kg class. A well matched first round with a 1-1 score soon became a memory as Danny took a 7-1 lead into the final round. His jab working well and a succession of hooks later and Danny ran out a 17-3 winner to equal his brother's title.
